Honorary Doctorate for Josep Carreras by University of the Saarland

Key facts:

◦ Josep Carreras receives the Honorary Doctorate in Musicology from University of the Saarland for his dark timbre lyric tenor voice known for being one of the best in 20th Century, and for his legendary interpretations of operatic roles, such as Verdi's Don Carlo. The cerimony will take place on June 11.
◦ As announced in a recent interview, the catalan tenor will be back on operatic stage in late 2013 with a contemporary opera. It's meant to be a great comeback, as, since 2002, he has been performing only concerts and recital, a very intimate form of communication he enjoys a lot. Singing an opera is slightly different, as he wears his character's clothes and sings with other interpreters, while in concerts and recitals he is alone and can count only on his voice and personality.
