Buona settimana a tutti!!

Key facts:
◦ Welcome for another Video of the Week. It's been a long time since the last hard choice for the Video of the Week. A lot of commitments don't have allowed me to prepare this post with advance. I only knew that I was going to propose something for St. John's eve... in catalan they call it "Revetlla de Sant Joan": it is a popular celebration that takes place on the night between 23 and 24 June, one of the shortest because of the Summer Solstice. It is traditionally related to fire, and that's the reason why they also call it "Nit del foc". In Catalonia they usually have dinner with family and friends, and the typical pudding is the Coca de Sant Joan, a sort of cake based on candied fruit. In Catalonia this celebration is closely associated with a famous song by Joan Manuel Serrat, "Per Sant Joan", that you can listen to here. The main matter was to find something sung by Josep that could be related with June 24, or to St. John's eve.
◦ Never ending researches with the most different result alternated to consultations with friends (people from Catalonia, opera singers from Menorca, etc.). The results were so different from each other that either didn't convince me or they did but mostly for the video of NEXT week. In the worst moment in which I was sure of nothing, my catalan friend Teresa revealed me that another song by Joan Manuel Serrat was very popular during the Revetlla, a song that makes people dance together slowly. Luckily there is also another version of this song, probably much better known by Carreras'fans around the world: a duet between Serrat and the same Carreras in occasion of the opening of the Olympics of Barcelona '92. No doubts, I'm talking about the wonderful love-song, Paraules d'amor. A part from its natural sweetness and the special atmosphere surrounding Barcelona, this song is particularly meaningful to me as it is the first catalan song I've ever heard, the first one I've learnt some catalan words from, the first catalan song I've fallen in love with. And now that Olympics of London 2012 are about to start, it's one reason more to listen to this song and go back to 20 years ago with our memories. Enjoy it!!
◦ It's been a very hard choice, believe me. I just would like to thank all my friends helping me today, and hope you have appreciated it. See you next time with another video. Wish you all a nice week and hope you have had a wonderful Revetlla de Sant Joan if you have celebrated it!!
