"Il Video della Settimana": Josep Carreras sings Los Reyes Magos from Navidad Nuestra by Ariel Ramírez

Buona settimana a tutti!!

Key facts:
Welcome to a new Video of the Week .

After the break in December, in which I decided to fully dedicate to the section of the Advent Calendar that offered a Christmas video songs per day up to 25th, now the Sunday section of the Video of the Week is back with the first proposal of the new year 2014. However, the atmosphere has not changed completely, since holidays will finish tomorrow, 6 January, and  the video of today is inspired to this very date.
Waiting for the Magi I would like to offer a song titled to them, taken from one of the Navidad  Nuestra villancicos of the great Argentine composer, Ariel Ramirez .
Navidad Nuestra is an extraordinary folk composition that bears the names of Ariel Ramirez, author of the music, and Félix Luna, author of all the lyrics: it is a collection of six stages of the Gospel of the Infancy, respectively La Anunciación, La Peregrinación, El Nacimiento, Los Pastores, Los Reyes Magos and La Huida presented with popular rhythms from different regions of Argentina.
Although it was the B-side of the vinyl of the famous Misa Criolla, is an entirely different and distinct opera.
Josep Carreras recorded  Navidad Nuestra in 1987 along with the Misa Criolla, in Laredo in Spain, and is available on video documentary of making the recording.
The taquirari, the rhythm that characterizes Los Reyes Magos takes place in an extremely funny circumstance due to the fact that Carreras makes a mistake in the lyrics, more precisely in the verse "Melchor, Gaspar y el negro Baltasar", Our tenor actually can't hold back the laughter repeatedly. I can not say exactly whether he says Basaltar instead of Baltasar, so if it is a simple inversion of consonants, or "va a saltar (he's going to jump)", so giving the lyrics a completely different meaning. However, his laughs are incredibly contagious and such atmosphere gives us the chance to celebrate the arrival of the Three Magi with some healthy humor. By the way, in the last part of the video, our tenor manages to finish the song correctly, and as usual he is simply great!!I hope you like it, enjoy!!

Once again, my very best wishes to you all for the new year 2014. See you next Sunday with a new video. Have a nice week!!
